A shopping centre for the entire neighbourhood was planned in the newly built neighbourhood Floriande, built on areas including the grounds of the former Floriande and part of the city of Hoofddorp. The combination of developers in the Floriande neighbourhood was in charge of this. Unfortunately, the parties were unable to agree, after which the Bouwfonds Haarlem office took the lead. Bouwfonds Haarlem then asked STABLE to act as a partner for optimal expertise of shopping and living in the combination.
STABLE made considerable changes to the existing shop concept designed by the combination, within the options that were still available. After all, the City Plan for the neighbourhood that the shopping centre was part of was fixed, and part of it had already been realised. With the changes to the shop concept made by STABLE and Bouwfonds, concerning the housing development programme, the development of the shopping centre was made possible. The shopping centre was to become a big one: approx. 10,000m² with 120 apartments above it and 500 parking spaces. Construction started in 2005 and the successful opening was held in 2006.
Multifunctional shopping centre Floriande offers a good mix of rural chains and regional (fresh) food businesses, various restaurants and services. Winkelcentrum Floriande is the shopping centre of today. It has over 35 shops, including two supermarkets. With its varied, attractive diversification, you can go to Floriande for both daily groceries and for fun shopping. That is what still makes Floriande shopping centre the vibrant heart of the Floriande neighbourhood (in Hoofddorp).
